Send a file that cuts right the first time.
Five minutes with this checklist saves a day of back-and-forth.
- 1
Draw at 1:1 and set the units
Inches or millimeters, set in the file. If units are missing we assume inches and show you the size so you can catch it.
- 2
Close every shape
Each outline and hole should be one closed loop. Gaps make the laser stop or skip a cut.
- 3
Put bend lines on their own layer
Name the layer BEND. Bend lines on the cut layer get cut through.
- 4
Keep holes bigger than the thickness
A hole smaller than the metal is thick won't come out clean. Keep holes at least 2× thickness plus the bend radius away from a bend.
- 5
Turn text into outlines
Fonts don't travel. Explode or outline text, and use a stencil font if letters have islands (like the middle of an O).
- 6
One part per file
Remove title blocks, dimensions and borders, or move them to a layer named DIM. Quantity goes in the form, not the file.
